Student Sponsoring
Most of our students come from poor farming families and are expected to help their parents in the fields, to pick wood and straws or make rice cakes to sell at the local markets. Some of the families are in such a difficult situation that even though the parents want their children to be in school, they cannot afford either the modest costs of school uniform and transport, or to lose the economic contribution to the family of the child’s labour.
We try to keep them in school by helping them out with school uniforms, bicycles to get to and from school, private lessons and food and accommodation for some of the very poorest students.
A private sponsor can make a world of difference for some of these children and their families. For as little as US$20/month it is possible to ensure a child is educated to high school level, and offer them a future beyond hand-to-mouth subsistence farming and illiteracy.
If you want to become a sponsor for one of our students please contact us. We will provide information about the students who are in greatest need of sponsorship, and you are most welcome to visit the project and meet their families.
